Carham St. Cuthbert's Burial Register - Click for bigger imageThis entry, extracted from the Carham parish burial register, which included Wark, refers to Cuthbert Ewart. Cuthbert died on the 27th June 1799 and was buried the next day aged 78 years. When a person is buried an entry is made in the burial register. Of particular interest are the burial registers of the period 1798-1812. These are known as Bishop Barrington registers. Shute Barrington, Bishop of Durham, ordered that additional information should be recorded, for example, a person's age and occupation when they died. Burial registers of Carham parish are deposited with Northumberland Archives Service.
