Postcard of the "Scotch Fisher Girls" c. 1920. Scottish fisher girls travelled round the British Isles with the Scottish fleet. These women were employed to gut, wash and clean herring before packing them into barrels for shipment. The women were paid according to the amount of fish they could pack during the day.
