Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, Railway Station - Click for bigger imageThis photograph shows the railway station at Newbiggin facing north towards Ashington. It was connected by the Newbiggin branch of the East Coast mainline. Notice the colliery screens on the right. The line was closed in November of 1964.
