View of Greenhead village. In the foreground is the lane leading to Nixon's Well and Well House. The houses on the other side of the main road (left to right) are Rose Cottage (on left of junction), Glen View (right of junction) and the building with the gable end showing was the Co-op. On the right side of the road is the signal box of the railway station, and in the distance, Thirlwall Castle with Holmhead farm in the front.
