Scremerston, Road Rollers - Click for bigger imageView of the village of Scremerston in north Northumberland around the turn of the twentieth century. The traction engine in the distance is a road roller, creating a new road surface for the coming of motorcars. The vehicle on the right would have held the road substance, such as tarmac, kept warm for spreading.
