Crofton Infants School, Admission Register - Click for bigger imageThis is an extract from the Admission Register of Crofton Council Infants School in Blyth, which was opened in September 1904. Entry number 1 relates to Lilian Jane Spence. She was first admitted 11th January 1904. She left on the 18th July 1907 as a result of a "Sore Head" and was readmitted 15th January 1908 and leaving school on the 23rd December 1909 when she was over 14 years old. The register records her date of birth as 9th January 1896, her father's name as John Edward [Spence] and the family address as 4 Houghton Terrace. Her previous school was listed as Chaddeston in Derby. The register records that Lilian Spence attended Crofton School between 1904 and 1909. This is a sample page from the school admission register. The register was used to record the names of those children attending the school. Additional information on the register included the children's date of birth, parents' names, attendance figures and date of leaving. Northumberland Archives Service holds records of many Northumberland Schools.
