This entry, extracted from the Allendale parish burial register, refers to Simon Hardy. Simon died 6th February 1800 and was buried the 9th February 1800 aged 31. He was killed in a Lead Mine by the falling of rubbish.
When a person is buried an entry is made in the burial register. Of particular interest are the burial registers of the period 1798-1812. These are known as Bishop Barrington registers. Shute Barrington, Bishop of Durham, ordered that additional information should be recorded, for example, a person's age and occupation when they died. Burial registers of Allendale parish are deposited with Northumberland Archives Service.
