This entry, extracted from the Allendale parish burial register, which includes Catton, refers to George Robinson. George died on the 9th May 1801 and was buried on the 11th May 1801 aged 29 years. He was a Smelter, of lead ore, by profession and died of consumption.
When a person is buried an entry is made in the burial register. Of particular interest are the burial registers of the period 1798-1812. These are known as Bishop Barrington registers. Shute Barrington, Bishop of Durham, ordered that additional information should be recorded, for example, a person's age and occupation when they died.
