This entry, extracted from the Felton parish burial register, refers to John Lyle. John died on the 8th February 1800 and was buried on the 10th February 1800 aged 78 years.
When a person is buried an entry is made in the burial register. Of particular interest are the burial registers of the period 1798-1812. These are known as Bishop Barrington registers. Shute Barrington, Bishop of Durham, ordered that additional information should be recorded, for example, a person's age and occupation when they died.
