This entry, extracted from the Alnwick parish burial register, refers to Edward Hoodspith. Edward was buried on the 6th November 1692. He is referred to as a Fidler Excellentissimo, an excellent violin player.
When a person is buried an entry is made in the burial register. Of particular interest are the burial registers of the period 1798-1812. These are known as Bishop Barrington registers. Shute Barrington, Bishop of Durham, ordered that additional information should be recorded, for example, a person's age and occupation when they died. Burial registers of Alnwick parish are deposited with Northumberland Archives Service.
