This entry, extracted from the Ford parish general register, which included Crookham, refers to James Strother. James died on the 31st March 1798 and was buried on the 3rd April 1798 aged 70 years.
When a person is buried an entry is made in the burial register. Of particular interest are the burial registers of the period 1798-1812. These are known as Bishop Barrington registers. Shute Barrington, Bishop of Durham, ordered that additional information should be recorded, for example, a person's age and occupation when they died.
