This entry, extracted from the Kirknewton parish baptism/burial register, which includes Howtel, refers to Ann Morton. Ann died on the 8th January 1808 and was buried on the 10th Janury 1808 aged 72 years.
When a person is buried an entry is made in the burial register. Of particular interest are the burial registers of the period 1798-1812. These are known as Bishop Barrington registers. Shute Barrington, Bishop of Durham, ordered that additional information should be recorded, for example, a person's age and occupation when they died.
