This is an extract from the 1881 Census Returns for Northumberland which includes Stamfordham.
Living at Cheeseburn Grange is Francis Riddell. Francis, aged 67 years, was the head of the household, married with four children. Residing with him were also his fifteen servants, including a Governess and a Nurse. His occupation was that of a Justice of the Peace for Northumberland and North Riding in Yorkshire. He was born at Cheeseburn Grange in Northumberland.
Census Returns are an excellent source when doing family history. The Northumberland Record Office holds microfilm and microfiche copies of the Northumberland Census Returns from 1841 to 1901.
