An article relating to the evictions of coal miners from their homes by Cramlington colliery owners. The pitmen, who had been on strike for 16 weeks voted to continue with their strike despite the evictions.
The Hexham Courant was first published in August 1864. In common with other provincial newspapers it provided detailed local, national and international news.
The Hexham Courant is still in publication today.
