"Killed and eaten by pigs". Extract from the Hexham Courant in 1868. The account of the death of Mark Longstaff of Blyth who was found sitting in an upright posture in one corner of a pig sty with his clothes nearly all torn off by two pigs and a portion of his body eaten away.
The Hexham Courant was first published in August 1864. In common with other provincial newspapers it provided detailed local, national and international news.
The Hexham Courant is still in publication today.
