This entry, extracted from the Ancroft parish burial register, refers to Margaret Bennet. Margaret died on the 3rd May 1802 and was probably buried on the 5th May 1802 aged 74 years. She was the widow of Thomas Bennet of Ancroft.
When a person is buried an entry is made in the burial register. Of particular interest are the burial registers of the period 1798-1812. These are known as Bishop Barrington registers. Shute Barrington, Bishop of Durham, ordered that additional information should be recorded, for example, a person's age and occupation when they died.
