This entry, extracted from the Ovingham parish burial register, which included Wylam, refers to Peter Sharpe. Peter died on the 3rd June 1811 and was buried on the 5th June 1811 aged 22 years.
When a person is buried an entry is made in the burial register. Of particular interest are the burial registers of the period 1798-1812. These are known as Bishop Barrington registers. Shute Barrington, Bishop of Durham, ordered that additional information should be recorded, for example, a person's age and occupation when they died.
