This is a copy of the bond made between the Waggonmen of Wylam Colliery and the colliery owner, Christopher Blackett between 1804 and 1805. The Waggonmen were employed to drive horse drawn wagons from Wylam Colliery to the loading staithes at Lemington. The bond sets out the rates of pay for the men and boys employed and their employment conditions. The names of those employed are listed at the bottom of the document.
This bond forms part of a large collection of material relating to Wylam Colliery and the Blackett family of Wylam in general. The collection, which has only partly been listed, is deposited with the Northumberland Archive Service.
